Fry’s Electronics Retail Stores to Recycle Rechargeable Batteries at Al California Locations

The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation announces partnership with premier retail electronics provider

ATLANTA, July 5, 2006 – Fry’s Electronics, a premier retail electronics provider for the hi-tech professional, and the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a nonprofit, public service organization dedicated to recycling rechargeable batteries, today announced the rollout of RBRC’s rechargeable battery recycling program, Call2Recycle™, in all of Fry’s California locations.

Starting July 1, RBRC’s rechargeable battery drop-off boxes will be in all California Fry’s Electronics stores, which will enable customers to drop off their used rechargeable batteries commonly found in portable electronics products, such as power tools, cordless phones, laptop computers, camcorders, digital cameras, and cellphones.

“We are pleased that Fry’s California stores are becoming part of our Call2Recycle™ program,” said Ralph Millard, Executive Vice President, RBRC. “With free and easy enrollment, our program is the perfect solution for California retailers looking to become compliant with the new rechargeable battery recycling act.”

Effective July 1st 2006, retailers of rechargeable batteries in the state of California will be required by law to recycle all rechargeable batteries according to the “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Act of 2006” (A.B. 1125). RBRC has made it easy for retailers to comply with the new laws.

Dedicated to serving the hi-tech professional since 1985, Fry’s prides itself on being the place where a technical customer can shop with confidence and comfort. Fry’s continues to keep hi-tech professionals supplied with products representing the latest technological trends and advances in the personal computer marketplace. Fry’s retails over 100,000 electronic items within each store, now totaling 32 nationwide.

“We pride ourselves on offering a superior experience for our customers,” said Lisa Souza, Enterprise Risk Manager of Fry’s Electronics. “By joining the Call2Recycle program, we are now able to provide another service to them, namely, the ability to recycle their used rechargeable batteries.”

Now, even more locations to recycle
