The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation Now Offers Free Recycling Service For Canadian Businesses

Call2Recycle rechargeable battery and cellphone recycling now available at no cost to businesses

TORONTO, June 6, 2005 – Canadian businesses now can become even greener when it comes to the workplace. The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a non-profit public service organization dedicated to recycling rechargeable batteries and cellphones, announced today that it will now provide its rechargeable battery and cellphone recycling program to Canadian businesses completely free of charge.

?The daily operations of most businesses depend on wireless technology to keep moving forward,? said Ralph Millard, Executive Vice President, RBRC. ?While these products can be used over and over again, they eventually wear out or are replaced with newer models. Call2Recycle offers businesses a unique opportunity to help preserve the environment, project a proactive image and to stay compliant with government regulations.?

Call2Recycle provides businesses with a convenient way to collect and recycle old cellphones and used rechargeable batteries that are found in products such as cordless power tools, two-way radios, cellular and cordless phones, digital cameras, laptop computers, bar code readers, portable printers, and PDAs. Through RBRC?s recycling network, reusable metals from Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Small Sealed Lead (Pb) batteries are recovered and recycled to make new products such as new batteries and stainless steel. Any cellphone is accepted for recycling, regardless of the size, make, and model, digital or analog, with or without the battery or charger.

Businesses interested in enrolling in the Call2Recycle program can visit www.call2recycle.org or call toll free 888-224-9764 to find out more about the program. Once registered, participants will receive a free shipment of collection boxes that includes pre-paid shipment, pre-addressed shipping labels, safety instructions and plastic bags for each used rechargeable battery and old cellphone.
