Black & Decker Vice President of Environmental Affairs Brings Unique Insight to Battery Collection Program
ATLANTA, November 12, 2009 – Call2Recycle®, the only free rechargeable battery and cellphone collection program in North America, has elected Linda Biagioni to its board of directors. Biagioni, who currently serves as vice president of environmental affairs for Black & Decker, was selected for her depth of knowledge in the battery manufacturing industry, as well as her ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility.
As a member of the board, Biagioni will be involved in shaping the overall strategic direction and advising growth strategies for the Call2Recycle program. She will play a key role in directing the organization as it develops standards of product stewardship in battery recycling, expands programs in the U.S. and Canada and maintains its position as the most successful rechargeable battery collection program in North America.
“Linda is a critical addition to our board during a significant phase of our evolution as manufacturers, program participants and policy makers alike are taking a keen interest in environmental sustainability,” said Carl Smith, president and CEO of RBRC, which operates Call2Recycle. “Her intimate knowledge of the battery industry, as well as her international experience on environmental issues, will bring a new perspective to our organization that is essential to enhancing our recycling program.”
In her role as vice president of environmental affairs for Black & Decker, a leading global manufacturer and marketer of power tools and accessories, Biagioni is responsible for managing the environment, health and safety program for the corporation, including all environmental legal and regulatory matters. Throughout her career, she has served as chair of the Environment Management Council of the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, chair of the International Environment Forum of the World Environment Center and a director for the Portable Rechargeable Battery Assocation (PRBA).
