Austin Libraries Vie to Receive a Gift of $1,000

In 2010, the city of Austin, Texas, adopted the state’s first Zero Waste Master Plan to reduce the amount of trash it sends to its landfills by 90% by 2040. As part of meeting that goal, the city is encouraging city residents to drop off their used single-use and rechargeable batteries at one of the 21 local libraries and other drop-off locations between Aug. 17 and Sept. 18.
