Since 1994, Call2Recycle, Inc. (“Call2Recycle”) has grown from an idea of a small group of battery manufacturers to a leading national product stewardship organization championing the responsible end-of-life management of more than 171 million pounds of batteries. In more recent years, Call2Recycle has reinforced this commitment by expanding its battery collection and recycling program to include a broad range of related services.

With the continued evolution of the organization, also comes the inevitability of change. Today, after more than 10 successful years as CEO & President, Carl Smith has announced his intent to retire in 2021.  While a poignant time for Call2Recycle, the organization is in a strong operational position with a highly capable team, an incredibly solid reputation in the market, and clear growth opportunities, making this an opportune moment for a leadership transition.

We look forward to celebrating Carl’s significant contributions to Call2Recycle and appreciate his ongoing stewardship while the Board embarks on a national search to identify his successor. After a thorough selection process, the Board has retained Koya Leadership Partners, the executive search firm that specializes in mission-driven search, to lead the national recruitment for Call2Recycle’s next CEO & President. If you or another leader would like to learn more about the position, please contact the Koya team at [email protected].

Best regards,

Andrew (Andy) Sirjord
Chairman of the Board of Directors
