Call2Recycle Surpasses Million Pound Battery Recycling Goal

ATLANTA, Oct. 6, 2010 – In July, Call2Recycle®, North America’s only free rechargeable battery and cellphone collection program, challenged Americans to divert 1 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from our nation’s landfills by Oct. 1, as part of its MyCall2Recycle awareness campaign. The numbers are in, and the country was successful, collecting 1.24 million pounds of rechargeable batteries during the campaign. The organization created the MyCall2Recycle campaign and its million pound goal in an effort to educate consumers and businesses across the country about the ongoing importance and ease of rechargeable battery recycling.

Battery Recycling Soared During Weekend Event

TORONTO, Sept. 29, 2010 – Call2Recycle®, a free battery and cellphone collection program in North America, is proud to announce that Torontonians recycled approximately 2,500 kilograms of batteries during a three hour event on Sept. 25 at the CN Tower with hockey legend Guy Lafleur. More than 3,000 people joined in the recycling festivities. Those who brought old batteries and cellphones for recycling were rewarded with signed hockey memorabilia.
