RBRC Receives 2005 Gold MarCom Creative Award

ATLANTA, February 27, 2006 – The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) was recognized this month with a Gold MarCom Creative Award for its “Cell Phone Retirement” advertising campaign in the category of “Print Advertising Campaign.” A subsidiary of the Communicator Awards, one of the oldest and most respected competitions in the communications field, the MarCom Creative Awards offer marketing and communications professionals an alternative competition that focuses solely on creative excellence.

“It is an honor for us to be recognized by an industry leader such as the MarCom Creative Awards,” said Ralph Millard, Executive Vice President, RBRC. “Our award-winning Cell Phone Retirement campaign has been recognized on an ongoing basis not only for the message it conveys, but also for its creativity. This continues to inspire us to produce campaigns of the highest quality.”

RBRC’s award-winning ad campaign in the category of “Print Ad Campaign” features a pair of “retired” cellphones enjoying the rest of their days at the beach, on the golf course, and fishing on a pier. The message “You may get to retire in the fun and sun but your old cellphones don’t” conveys that recycling cellphones is easy and good for the environment. The campaign was created in conjunction with BtB Marketing Communications, Inc., a Raleigh-based advertising agency located in North Carolina.

“We’re very pleased to be so highly recognized amongst our creative peers,” said BtB’s Vice President of Creative Services, Geoff Dunkak. “This award acknowledges the work and dedication of a lot of talented people at our agency and at RBRC.”

RBRC also received a 2005 GOLD ADDY award for their Cell Phone Retirement campaign from the Raleigh chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

The MarCom Creative Awards were founded over 10 years ago by a group of communications professionals who were involved in local competitions for several of the national and international trade organizations. The goal of the group was to provide an inexpensive, independent competition on an international level that would be open to everyone.
