Seattle Answers Call for First Area-wide Battery Recycling Day

Designed to educate consumers and communities on the importance and ease of battery recycling, Call2Recycle® and Mayor Mike McGinn have designated Thursday, June 28, as .  Area residents and organizations are encouraged to scour their attics, junk drawers, and desks, and bring their rechargeable batteries to the Seattle Center International Fountain for a chance to be rewarded with prizes in addition to doing their part for the environment.

Consumers Recycling More Batteries in 2011

Call2Recycle’s Battery Collections Surge 13.1%

ATLANTA (January 5, 2012) – More and more consumers are recycling their batteries according to Call2Recycle®, the North American leader in consumer battery recycling. Today it announced a 13.1 percent increase in 2011 battery collections (over 2010), collecting more than 7.6 million pounds (3.45 million kilograms) of rechargeable batteries (the equivalent to the weight of 278 school buses) through a network of over 30,000 retail, business and municipal locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
