National Battery Day Shines a Spotlight on Battery Recycling

National Battery Day Draws Attention to Battery Recycling Across North America

Thanks to the participation of more than 100 partners–retailers, municipalities and collection sites–across the U.S. and Canada, the celebration of National Battery Day on Saturday, February 18, was an overwhelming success. Our goal was to shine a spotlight on the role that batteries play in our daily lives and encourage consumers to recycle their used batteries at nearby drop-off locations. Based on the results, we achieved our goal.

Digital banners and social media (#NationalBatteryDay and #ChargeUp2017 on Twitter and Facebook) generated nearly 50 million impressions, reaching more than 30 million consumers. Our website experienced a 91% increase in unique visitors and a 368% increase in visits to the locator page from 2015. We appreciate the hard work of everyone who contributed to raising awareness and inspiring action on this special day.

A special shout out to Lowe’s US, who created a special infographic highlighting its rechargeable battery collections of five million lbs. since 2004.
